Not all catering halls offer full service staff & individually prepared food on premises
Does the venue have a valid catering and liquor license
Different days of the week & months of the year will usually carry different pricing arrangements
Depending upon the size of your event, appropriate planning time can range from a few to months up to a year in some cases
Event dates are secured & held through initial deposits
Determine the payment policy of the venue you’re inquiring about
Confirm the starting & ending times of your event. Most catering halls book their rooms for events lasting between four or five hours in duration
Not all catering halls allow you to bring in vendors of your choosing
Ask how many other events will be going on within the venue on the day of your special event
Have a good idea of the amount of guests you’re planning on inviting to your special event
Ensure that the catering hall you’re inquiring about can accommodate the amount of guests you intend to invite
Inquire about how much time your & your vendors will have prior to your event to decorate & set up
Ask how many of your guests can be accommodated at the venue’s banquet tables
Be aware of any hidden or extra charges on a venue’s contract, such as: set up & breakdown fees, valet parking charges, coat room fees, administrative fees, cleaning charges, vendor accommodation costs, etc
Inquire regarding what, if any, gratuity arrangements the venue has as their policy
Ask if the venue requires clients to pay for security at their event
Inquire about special pricing for children & vendors
Understand the cancellation policy for the venue of which your inquiring
Ask how long the ownership of the venue has been operating the facility & how many events like yours they’ve handled in the past
Will the venue dedicate a banquet manager to assist you with all your needs throughout the planning process
Will the venue provide a dedicated professional, like a Maitre’ D, to manage every aspect of your event
Does the venue offer free valet parking
Will the venue allow do-it-yourself decorations
