20 Jun Tips for your wedding in Queens, NY
It’s magical, isn’t it? You say YES!, the ring is slipped on your finger, you tell everyone you know the exciting news–you’re getting married! Then the questions start: When’s the big day? What kind of wedding flowers should I get? Where do I find a wedding dress? Who will be in the wedding? Where will the wedding be? All of a sudden your happiest moment starts to get stressful! We hear you, and we want to help! Here are some tips to get you started in planning your wedding in Queens, New York!
Choose a Date
This is one of the most challenging parts of a wedding! Call Villa Russo to get a list of available dates. This will narrow down your choices. Next, contact your family to see which dates might work best. You’ll want to contact your parents and immediate family. Be sure to check in with grandparents and anyone traveling long distance for your nuptials.
Define a Budget
Ok, be honest. If you said yes, you’ve been thinking about this wedding for awhile! You probably already have some idea of how much you can spend. Be realistic at this stage so you are not discouraged later! Start by making a list of expenses and how they will be covered. Many venues have deals with local businesses to help in the process. At Villa Russo we have many preferred vendors to help you find everything from the wedding dress, to wedding DJ, to the wedding cake and more.
How can your family and friends best support you?
Your friends and family want to help! When the big day arrives you want everything to run as smoothly as possible. Delegating to others will help. Do you have a Wedding Planner? How can your bridesmaids and groomsmen help? Another good resource is to look for Bridal Shows. We frequently have bridal shows here at Villa Russo. See our Events page for more information.
Do you have a wedding planner or organizer?
Relax! The best way to be relaxed on your big day is to put it in the hands of others. Do you have a wedding planner or organizer? At Villa Russo we have a complete professional event staff ready for your wedding day.
Marriage Licenses in New York!
Don’t forget to make it legal. Applying for a marriage license here in New York costs $35. You must have the license for at least 24 hours before the ceremony. Both you and your partner must appear at the marriage bureau at the same time with valid ID (as well as any documents involving past marriages, annulments, and divorces). You can find and print the paperwork online, but it must be delivered in person by both partners. You do not have to be a New York Resident to apply and Passports are a valid form of ID.
